ville de Chatakh est situ\u00e9e \u00e0 1\u00a0600 m d\u2019altitude au confluent du Tigre et du Sortkin \u00e7ay. Aux abords de la ville se trouvent quatre \u00e9glises, les noms mentionn\u00e9s par Levonian diff\u00e8rent de ceux cit\u00e9s par les voyageurs contemporains. L\u2019\u00e9glise des \u00ab\u00a0Trois Autels\u00a0\u00bb et celle d\u2019\u00ab\u00a0Asparatsin\u00a0\u00bb de Levonian sont respectivement nomm\u00e9es, \u00e9glise de la Sainte Trinit\u00e9 et la Sainte-M\u00e8re-de-Dieu par Jean Michel Thierry et la R.A.A.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les deux autres noms sont analogues, Jean Pr\u00e9curseur (Surb Garabet) et Saint Etienne (Surb Stepanos). D\u2019autres monuments se trouvent \u00e0 quelques kilom\u00e8tres du bourg, comme l\u2019\u00e9glise de le Sainte Dame.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jadis peupl\u00e9es d\u2019Arm\u00e9niens, la ville de Chatakh est de nos jours habit\u00e9e par des Kurdes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Au c\u0153ur de la ville se trouve un antique pont de pierre qui enjambe la rivi\u00e8re Sortkin. Sur la pile ouest de ce pont se trouve une inscription effac\u00e9e encadr\u00e9e d\u2019une tresse \u00e0 trois brins. Sur la pile Est, est grav\u00e9e une inscription en \u00ab yergatakir \u00bb. Ici les hivers sont rudes, il arrive fr\u00e9quemment lors des temp\u00eates de neige, que les habitants subissent de graves dommages comme en 1833, o\u00f9 cinquante \u00e0 soixante personnes p\u00e9rirent. La principale activit\u00e9 des villageois est le tissage de ch\u00e2les aux couleurs chatoyantes tr\u00e8s r\u00e9put\u00e9s. Les deux rives du fleuve, appel\u00e9es le \u00ab\u00a0Haut et le Bas Village\u00a0\u00bb, sont reli\u00e9es par un magnifique et ancien pont de pierre. Les Arm\u00e9niens qui vivent ici poss\u00e8dent leur propre \u00e9cole qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite avec l&rsquo;aide du Catholicossat d&rsquo;Aght\u2019amar et de missionnaires.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ils poss\u00e8dent \u00e9galement quatre \u00e9glises, dont une seule est en activit\u00e9 et c\u00e9l\u00e8bre des offices, les autres sont abandonn\u00e9es et situ\u00e9es loin des habitations. L&rsquo;\u00e9glise en activit\u00e9 s&rsquo;appelle l\u2019\u00e9glise des \u00ab\u00a0Trois Autels\u00a0\u00bb [Sainte Trinit\u00e9], elle se trouve \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9cole, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite par le dernier Catholicos d&rsquo;Aght\u2019amar Khatchadour III. Cette \u00e9glise a \u00e9t\u00e9 incendi\u00e9e lors des \u00e9v\u00e9nements de 1896 et a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconstruite. Une inscription se trouve sur la fa\u00e7ade de la porte\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Sous le Saint-Si\u00e8ge d&rsquo;Agh\u2019tamar, le P\u00e8re Khatchatour a ordonn\u00e9 de reconstruire avec diligence la nouvelle porte de l&rsquo;\u00e9glise du village [1883], ainsi que la salle de pri\u00e8res des femmes et l&rsquo;\u00e9cole, ceci gr\u00e2ce aux dons de Belebian Hovsep, Astouadzatourian Vartan, et les habitants, en leur m\u00e9moire \u00e9ternelle\u00a0\u00bb. La date de construction de cette \u00e9glise est inscrite sur le mur nord, devant la porte\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Cette \u00e9glise a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite, sous le Patriarcat d&rsquo;Agh\u2019tamar, par le P\u00e8re Grigor et la seigneurie des Hagarats Avtal Beg, en 1756\u00a0\u00bb. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9nov\u00e9e, car des piliers de pierre, une imposante colonne et une arche, semblent plus anciens. Une autre \u00e9glise d\u00e9saffect\u00e9e, appel\u00e9e Saint-Garabet, porte l&rsquo;inscription suivante\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0En la grande ann\u00e9e arm\u00e9nienne, la construction de cette \u00e9glise a eu lieu, sous la seigneurie de Muhamed Beg, par le ma\u00eetre Khatchatour, mandat\u00e9 par Mardiros, pour le peuple en l\u2019an 1659 \u00bb. Il y a \u00e9galement une \u00e9glise situ\u00e9e en face de la forteresse, appel\u00e9e Surb Stepanos elle est construite en pierres et dot\u00e9e d&rsquo;une coupole, elle est abandonn\u00e9e et enti\u00e8rement ruin\u00e9e. Au nord-ouest de ce pont, se trouve la quatri\u00e8me \u00e9glise de Chatakh, nomm\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0Asparatsin\u00a0\u00bb [Sainte-M\u00e8re-de-Dieu], construite en 1659. Michel Catholicos d&rsquo;Akhtamar, \u00ab\u00a0le Musicien\u00a0\u00bb, fut inhum\u00e9 dans cette \u00e9glise en 1801. La forteresse d&rsquo;Avanis situ\u00e9e dans la partie appel\u00e9e le vieux Chatakh, ne pr\u00e9sente pas un grand int\u00e9r\u00eat car il ne subsiste que quelques b\u00e2timents rudimentaires et
